Team Lead, Clinical Support | Prudential Financial | Portland, ME

  • Administratively responsible for a sub-group of Clinicians to include supervisory functions such as regular 1:1 discussions with direct reports, performance appraisals, development planning, counseling and coaching with direct reports.
  • Conducts Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) reviews for all direct reports to assist in learning and development.
  • Functions as an expert medical resource for Clinical staff and for claim organizations throughout Group Insurance.
  • Manages a modified assignment when business needs dictate due to volume or for absence coverage. This would include professional evaluation of highly complex, illness & injury claims for functional capacity assessments, prognosis for recovery or increased capacity, assessment and/or identification of restrictions & limitations, based on physiological, psychological and social factors, to assist claim management staff in their claim handling activities.
  • Provides claim management staff with medical insight and education to assist them in determining appropriate next medical management steps.  Level of review may vary from a claims discussion setting to a comprehensive file review.
  • Incumbent is expected to lead, facilitate and participate in relevant department, division and GI projects
  • Incumbent possesses excellent analytical skills
  • Incumbent possesses high level of organizational awareness, ability to partner effectively with all levels of claim and clinical/vocational staff and management
  • Incumbent possesses excellent communication, presentation skills and time management skills
  • Incumbent possesses creative thinking skills and courage

The position is classified as professional, supervisory and would be found in a corporate facility/regional office. This is not a Utilization Review position.

Requirements include:
  • RN designation, or appropriate credentials in either Physical or Occupational Therapy. All designations require 7-10 years of relevant clinical and or industry experience.
  • People management experience highly desirable. Reports to Manager, Clinical Services.
